Hike into Jumbo Pass

Simon and I hiked into Jumbo Pass last weekend from Duncan lake on the west side.  We hiked in with our friends Patrick and Finley.

Such a beautiful place!  This was one of those experiences that I can't believe I have not done sooner.  Amazing that this place is so close to Rossland.  We camped overnight but it would be feasible to leave Rossland in the morning and get up there.

We were surprised by the number of people up there, there must have been 40-50 other hikers coming in from both the Invermere side and the Duncan lake side.

The hike (8.5km return) is short and somewhat steep, which meant that we were surrounded by views of glaciers and peaks rather quickly. The word "wow" was used a lot.

I would love to Ski tour up there sometime.

We found a simlar gem on Mount Baker Washington. We had a fantastic hike into Lake Ann a couple of weeks ago and were so impressed by everything the mountain had to offer that we think Mt. Baker is quite comparable to the Rockies - of course we'd like to ski tour where we hiked:) Has anyone stood beside Lake Ann with Mt. Shuksan roaring up behind you? - amazing!
